The East Palo Alto Community Archive (EPACA) and Dyson & Womack invite artists to apply for a unique opportunity to create a permanent public artwork at Cooley Landing Park. This commission invites artists to respond to East Palo Alto’s dynamic history, interpreting its unique past, present, and future aspirations through a public art installation that will resonate with and celebrate the community’s multifaceted identity—an identity rooted in power, change, and community.

Artists will collaborate with EPACA’s historical archives and local residents to develop a work that reflects East Palo Alto’s past, present, and future. The final installation should embody themes of empowerment, belonging, and collective memory while thoughtfully integrating into the park’s natural landscape.

This Request for Qualifications (RFQ) is open to artists working in diverse media and across all career levels, including those historically underrepresented in public art. For more information or to apply, visit www.dysonwomack.com/EPACA

The Heroes & Legends public art commission is a project of the East Palo Alto Community Archive (EPACA), managed by Dyson & Womack, and was made possible through a grant award from the California State Coastal Conservancy.
