Non-profits YCS and Anamatangi Polynesian Voices, working on the nonpartisan People’s Poll Initiative to Get Out the Vote, organized Nightmare on Vote Street. Nightmare on Vote Street is more than just a fun Halloween-inspired gathering; it’s a nonpartisan, civic engagement event designed to bring together the youth of East Palo Alto, youth-focused nonprofit organizations, and the candidates running to represent our community in upcoming elections. The goal was to inspire greater youth participation ahead of the November 2024 elections through interactive activities and meaningful community outreach.

Event Highlights:

• Non-profit friendly competition of trunk-o-treat decoration.
• A passport-style interactivity that included a fun “Debate a Candidate” booth!
• A youth-led candidates forum with candidates running for local offices
• A mock ballot casting of votes for the People’s Poll!
